1.4. NCD Prevention
NP-NCD program addresses NCDs across three levels of prevention. Understanding these levels helps every health worker know where their actions fit in the bigger picture.

Primary Prevention
Health promotion and lifestyle modification BEFORE disease develops.
Examples: Tobacco cessation counselling, diet education, physical activity promotion
Secondary Prevention
Screening and early diagnosis of disease BEFORE symptoms appear.
Examples: Population-based BP screening, blood sugar testing, cancer screening
Tertiary Prevention
Treatment, rehabilitation, and complication management AFTER diagnosis.
Examples: Stroke rehabilitation, dialysis, wound care for diabetic foot
